Jack Schnur Presents: Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue In-Person
George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue stands out as one of the great symphonic contributions of the 20th century, known for its integration of jazz rhythms with classical music. This program will focus on how Rhapsody in Blue came to be written and first performed on February 12, 1924. There will be interviews with Leonard Bernstein, conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, and singer Michael Feinstein. Also included are video clips of George Gershwin playing the piano, and performances of Rhapsody in Blue by Leonard Bernstein, Herbie Hancock, and Lang Lang.
